How Do We Clean Rugs?
The first step is to quantify if the rug needs routine cleaning or a more aggressive multi-stage restorative cleaning process.
We are professional rug and textile cleaners. Part of being professionals is recognizing that the usual one-size-fits-all shampoo approach with rug cleaning is a sure recipe for failure.
Because all rugs are not constructed the same, they CANNOT all be cleaned the same. What works great on tufted wool rugs could easily ruin hand-knotted Persian, weave, or knitted wool rugs!
We perform an inspection of each rug to check for weaknesses, dye stability, or other damage and design a cleaning plan based on several factors: How the rug is constructed, types of soil, level of soil, type of fibers, and the stability of the dyes. We highly value clients' input concerning their rugs.
Rugs are cleaned on location.
Thorough pre-vacuuming of every rug is essential as more than 40% of soil in rugs is loose particulate dirt.
The majority of delicate silk, wool, and cotton rugs are meticulously cleaned by hand, while some rugs are durable enough for encapsulation machine cleaning. In either case, rugs are deeply impregnated with neutral Ph pre-conditioners or soil digesting enzymes causing soil to "suspend" from fibers, followed by an extraction rinse process especially selected for particular rugs, condition, level of soiling, or other special circumstances.
The extraction process removes ground-in soil, oils, and all pre-conditioners or enzyme solutions.
Silk and sisal rugs are dry cleaned with solvent-based solutions.
After the cleaning process, special procedures are used to properly clean and brighten fringes or remove most stains and odors.
Finally, rugs are speed dried with high-volume carpet dryers.
